Help with your IKEA Faktum Kitchen

“IKEA discontinued”, “IKEA Last Chance” – 4,160,000 results on google search tell the story. People need help with their IKEA Faktum kitchen. They are getting desperate when their beloved series are discontinued. To its fans IKEA is a bit of an institution; like an old friend that you rely on. Just, sometimes that friend moves away. He gets a job at the East Coast and this leaves an empty space in your heart, your weekly routine. Or, in case of an IKEA product, an empty space in that kitchen corner. If you need help with your Ikea Faktum kitchen, read on.
The IKEA Faktum Kitchen System was such an institution. IKEA was different than other Flat Pack kitchens. You knew, you could add cabinets and drawers to the system as your family grew. You could add and change cabinets, when you remodelled the space or you could start with essentials and upgrade later when you got more cash or knew for sure how you want to use the space. Until IKEA stopped FAKTUM.
IKEA FAKTUM discontinued
“After more than 20 years of production, we have replaced our FAKTUM kitchen system with the new METOD kitchen system. We stand behind the quality of our products and will continue to honour all FAKTUM guarantees. Visit our kitchen department page to see new METOD kitchens or read more about the switch in our METOD/FAKTUM FAQ.” In 2015 IKEA announced the end of its long standing Kitchen range.
As a result the Fans of the ever popular kitchen system weren’t happy.
IKEA Fan, martyjm begs in a whirlpool forum for a single Faktum kitchen door: “this morning we scratched a door in our new Faktum Kitchen, it is an Abstrakt gloss black. … If anyone has a spare one or similar experience I would love to hear about it. I’m after a 60x70cm Abstrakt Gloss Black door, part# 701.658.70.”
Whirlpool.net.au user TheUndies has a similar problem. “I have about six cabinet fronts on my Faktum kitchen that need replacing due to cracking and peeling.”
No stock of IKEA FAKTUM kitchens left
The comments on the online forum Whirlpool go on and on. Whilst IKEA does, of course, honour its warranties, it seems that Australia wide there is no stock left.
“I know that Faktum has been replaced by Metod (24 days ago) but did not expect the complete brushoff by IKEA when calling them. As a result, he believes, “that there are absolutely no stocks of old doors in the country,” asks martyjm.
TheUndies reports a similar experience: “I contacted IKEA this morning”. The reply was “We no longer have any stock of this range for sale in any of our stores Australia wide.” As IKEA’s dedicated Aftersales service for the FAKTUM range seized in June 2017 completely, customers had to go parts hunting on Gumtree, eBay and Craigslist.
