When your kitchen starts to seem boring and drab, it’s time for a kitchen update. If your kitchen cabinets, countertops and floors are still in good shape, there’s no need to get a whole new kitchen. Try making some of these small changes that have a big effect in renewing the look and feel of your kitchen.

Breathing new life into your kitchen doesn’t have to cost a lot. Here are 5 fast kitchen update ideas that are easy as well as inexpensive.

  1. Change Cabinet Hardware

Knobs and handles add a lot of style and character to any kitchen. Changing cabinet hardware will add a new look to your kitchen in no time. Be sure to find new hardware that will fit in the same holes as your current hardware.

  1.  Reinvent Your Kitchen Table

Your kitchen table is an eye-catching part of the kitchen and perfect for displaying a new centrepiece or table runner. A new flower arrangement or adding a colourful fruit basket will add a pop of colour and a natural feel. For a more dramatic effect, consider replacing your table chairs or getting the upholstery replaced on your current set.

  1. Add/Change Back Splash

A colourful back splash will completely change the look of your kitchen. Go for something bold and beautiful. Look into making your own with broken glass or plates to make it one of a kind. As an added bonus, it will prevent splatters and stains on your painted walls.

  1. Light it Up

Lights can be overlooked, but their effect is substantial. Think about adding more lights to brighten up your kitchen. Backlighting in glass cabinets add an elegant feel. Even consider upgrading your main light fixture to something more bold. This will easily make your light fixture a statement piece.

  1. Add Floor Mat/Rug

A new floor mat or rug will do wonders for refreshing your kitchen. A floor treatment will also absorb sound if you have wood or tile floors. Add a cushion pad underneath to absorb even more noise. Make sure your mat or rug is easy to clean and doesn’t show every little stain and water mark.

Making a few small changes can rejuvenate your kitchen without breaking the bank. Good luck with your kitchen refresh!
